Healing the Mother Wound through Bellydance, Sensuality & Creativity

“The Mother Wound”, is a phrase we often hear, making us reminisce our turbulent childhood memories and relationships with our mother or lack thereof. However, I want to challenge you to think of another perspective...one that is cellular, biological, genetic, and generational.

UNDERSTANDING MOTHER WOUNDS ON A CELLULAR LEVEL

When we are created in our mother's womb, males inherit the "x" chromosome from their mother, and "y" chromosome of their father, which is the very same chromosome that came from their grandfathers, all the way to their first paternal ancestor. Women inherit two "x" chromosomes, one from their father and the other from their mother, which is also the same "x" chromosomes that their grandmothers, great grandmothers, and first maternal ancestor.
What is key here is our mitochondrial DNA, which is the powerhouse of cellular energy, and is only inherited by our mothers, regardless of our gender, and identity. Biological males do not transfer their mitochondrial DNA to their offspring, only women do. Therefore, it makes sense that our mother wounds can be so potent.
More so, since the essence of mitochondria are the energy & life force that allows our cells to create & function...this just shows how our mother wounds impact everything related to womanhood, our own energy, and life force! From our feminine energy, life force or zest for life, creativity, creating our dream life, sensuality & sexuality...to even our bodies and cellular function!

Therefore, healing our Mother Wounds shouldn’t only be an emotional journey but a physical, cellular, & biological one, in that we must integrate our bodies too.

All these themes have one thing in common..."Shakti" which is the feminine energy, life force, & power within us that transforms our pain & disempowerment to empowerment. When our mother wounds are so painful, that is a sign that we must heal our inner feminine, our shakti, read more about what the inner feminine is

HEALING MOTHER WOUNDS ON A CELLULAR LEVEL THROUGH BELLYDANCE, CREATIVITY, & SENSUALITY

While dance is mostly associated to entertainment in modern society, sacred dance has its origins in fertility & childbirth rituals, spiritual & religious ceremonies, rites of passages, and healing practices. Sacred dances was considered a way of life for many across cultures. It is very likely that all our ancestors danced their way of life on earth. You can learn more about sacred dances here.
Raqs Sharqi, or widely known as Belly Dance was created by women for women; from celebrating a young woman's menses and entrance into womanhood, to preparation for child birth and opening up the hip flexors and pelvic muscles.
By moving the womb through Belly Dance, we can release trauma in that the womb is energetically a placeholder of our emotional & physical wounds which may physically manifest as reproductive, hormonal, & menstrual issues. The womb is also, an energetic storage of our creativity, and ability to not only create life, but create the lives we desire! Our reproductive system, is the seat of our sexuality, sensuality, womanhood, and energetic umbilical cord to our mothers and foremothers!

Belly dancing your mother wounds, essentially allows you to heal your body on a cellular level, transmuting the pain of all women before you into power, thus reclaiming your own power!

Perhaps this makes sense in your head, but you are hesitant. As a practicing psychotherapist, I find that those who need the healing powers of belly dance often are resistant at first, which reflects wounded femininity, sexuality, sensuality & creativity. Therefore, I am gifting you my free film, "Sacred Woman, Sacred Dance" which helps you reflect on what the journey of reclaiming womanhood & sexuality would look like for you.
I also offer individual therapy, women’s group therapy, & couple’s therapy. Book your free 20 minute consult to learn more about which service is right for you.
