What is Somatic Therapy?
Do you have those moments when your mind feels like it’s constantly running a million thoughts at once? Or, perhaps you feel so disconnected to your body and desire connection. This is when somatic therapy can support you! Somatic therapy uses the body as a starting point for emotional and spiritual healing. It is based on the concept that the body is not separate from the mind and soul. Body memory, in that memories, wounds, traumas, and even strengths or gifts are stored in the body. Through techniques such as body mapping or utilizing the eastern chakra system, we can activate our bodies and begin to deepen our relationship to ourselves. For instance, being able to discern what “yes” and “no” feels like in your body when you are expected to make choices for yourself.
Will we be doing Somatic Therapy the entire time?
Of course not! Think of somatic therapy as just another tool to your journey of healing and growth which you can explore when needed or desired at your own pace in addition to talk therapy. Everything is an invitation.
