Hello goddess, Ketki here. I welcome you to take back your power & be the goddess that you are! How would it be to feel empowered in your body, sexuality, sensuality, femininity, womanhood & multicultural identities, instead of feeling you’re on an uphill battle against yourself? You see, as women, we have not been taught to embrace the divine feminine goddess that we are. From our voices being silenced, to our bodies being oversexualized & shamed from conservative cultures, deep down you want to feel seen and heard. Can you relate to this? If you’re reading this far, I’m assuming you can relate.
The journey to awakening the goddess inside of you becomes a journey of RE-connecting & RE-membering her. Since many of us don’t have examples of what that looks like, the journey becomes a trial and error. Learning as you go, exploring what works and doesn’t work for you, and cycles of optimism, frustration, and sadness. You don’t have to go through this alone!
My Journey & Values
It was heartbreak & rock bottom that awakened the goddess within me. The process of putting the pieces of my broken heart back together made me see the parts of myself that I was ashamed about. The part of me that compromised my needs for others. Until my relationships & opportunities all fell apart and I had no other choice but to learn how to live for myself and my needs! Ultimately we all want to be seen, heard and loved by our partners, family, friends, and mostly ourselves... I have danced back and forth in embracing my body, sexuality, womanhood & cultural identity in order to experience more connection, love, and freedom in myself and others.
As a South Asian Indian American woman of color, born and raised in Washington D.C., I’ve always been a bridge between the east and west. I grew up with hip hop and rock music, giggled with school friends as English effortlessly grazed off my tongue, but would come home to my mother tongue language, Hindi & Marathi.
I come from a lineage of warriors, known as the Maratha Empire. Men protected Indian land while women danced the sacred dances in palaces & temples; from belly dance that supported women through feminine healing & childbirth to Indian Classical Dances which preserved the cultural arts & stories.
Post colonial invasion, warriors were stripped of their culture & land while women were sexually exploited. It is my parents who immigrated to the U.S. to reclaim what was "lost" by working the 9 to 5 as accountants but at the cost of severing their roots to our homeland, or diaspora, longing for "belonging & home".
It was their story that made me realize, regardless of our cultural backgrounds, ALL humans want to feel at home, safe, and a sense of belonging within ourselves and our bodies. When I was younger I was taught to be shameful and guilty of my body, until womanhood greeted me and I began to see how moving my womb through belly dance would reclaim my menstrual cycles & sensuality, while storytelling through Indian Classical Dance would awaken my voice and self expression.
I have realized I've been gifted the opportunity to reconnect women to their intuitive wisdom & healing that already exists within us. While our bodies carry ancestral trauma, we also possess wisdom & medicine. My intent is to bring back the indigenous into our modern day lives through decolonization. To remember, reclaim, & awaken the "roots" that have been severed so we can come back "home" to our bodies, sensuality, sexuality, womanhood, and culturality.
I believe in making healing accessible to women from ALL backgrounds, cultures and identities and together, reclaiming our inner goddesses.
